The Club was launched in September 1998 and officially registered in April, 1999.

Our main task is to stimulate pedagogical creative work of teachers involved in Jewish education.

Our sociological researches showed that overwhelming majority of teachers of Jewish subjects have to work out their own program in spite of a great number of programs and methodological works done by different organizations. We consider it to be our task not to work out a one more heap of booklets but to provide better conditions for teachers' independent work.

Pedagogical Club is

• A place for a teacher to speak freely about his / her work;

• A possibility to get the necessary information

• Meeting with scientists specialized in Jewish studies and pedagogics

• A possibility to publish the results of one's work

• Assistance in organizing the financial support

• A stimulus for teacher's self-education

• A community for which teacher's creative activity is a primary value.

We consider that it is impossible to raise the prestigeousness of Jewish education and Jewish knowledge by means of work only within the limits of Jewish schools. The non-mentioning of Jews and Jewish culture has been preserved in programs of secondary schools in CIS as a heritage of Soviet system of education. That is why one of our main concerns is supporting and stimulating creative activities of teachers working in non-Jewish schools who work out lessons and sets of lessons on Jewish culture and history.

There are 7 main directions of the Club's activity:

1. Social, cultural and educational work among the teachers - organizing of a learning community

2. Protecting the freedom of Jewish way of life - by means of propagating Jewish knowledge and values in Jewish and non-Jewish schools

3. Teachers' individual pedagogical projects – professional, financial and organizational support of individual pedagogical projects in the field of Jewish education

4. "Scientists help the school" – organization of master-classes provided by scientists specialized in Jewish studies for teachers

5. Researches in pedagogics – sociological researches in the field of Jewish pedagogics in CIS countries

6. Schools cooperation - organizing seminars and summer schools for teachers in St. Petersburg, seminars on the spot, supporting and developing of professional communication via Internet

7. Publishing program – publishing of "New Jewish school" anthology, pedagogical periodicals, the results of teachers' individual projects, launching and maintaining a web-site "New Jewish school".
