The computer revolution, one of main events of the passing century, has introduced essential innovations in the sphere of education. Computerization of education in the nearest future will change usual ideas about school, class, textbook.

It is well understood by the staff of the Resource Centre "ORT-St.Petersburg".

Jewish education, being indefinitely ancient, is at the same time a completely new reality for the countries of the former USSR. The staff of ORT do their best to acquaint Jewish teachers with huge possibilities, which are opened by usage of the digital computers in educational process.

In 1997-99 on the base of ORT there were numerous educational groups organized for teachers of Jewish schools of St. Petersburg and other cities. Their participants have passed the path from elementary computer literacy up to the level of qualified user of PC. In the course of this job the idea of a Virtual methodical cabinet has gradually ripen and got its contours.

Teachers of Petersburg Jewish schools and the chief editor of the "Jewish school " magazine Hana Rotman stood at its origin. The important merit in creation of the Virtual methodical cabinet belongs to Vladimir Dribinsky, the director of the Center and to the deputy director Marina Sorokina. Their professionalism, enthusiasm, devotion to Jewish education and simply emotional generosity enabled to begin and to complete this project.

And the doors of the Virtual Methodical Workshop are open before you, dear visitor.
