Internet-Centre of didactical educational resources
for secondary school - Infoteka

In 2001 Resource Centre ORT-St.Petersburg Centre within the grant of Open Society Institute (Soros Foundation) started to develop an Internet library of educational resources for secondary school (Infoteka).

Within this project it's planned to create a system of structuring, accumulation, analyzing and distribution of didactical and methodical material for secondary school, presented as computer files and united into a structure of Virtual Internet-Centre (Infoteka). It's proposed to systematize present educational resources, to develop an infill mechanism of the Infoteka for different school subjects and to train teachers to use it.

  • Infoteka is a structured system with a scaled searching system where a teacher can find a useful material
  • Teacher, while preparing to the lesson, can select an educational material using not a keyword but some formal characteristics of an educational process provided in the Infoteka structure such as form, subject, topic, section, lesson, and kind of resource. This is the main difference of Infoteka from the present Internet searching systems, made according to the "yellow pages" principle
  • Illustrative materials, reference data, computer models, texts, audio- and video-sources, libraries of tasks and examples, tests, trainings etc will be used as resources for the Infoteka
  • In the pilot phase of the project it's proposed to create a structure for three school subjects (history, economics and physics) as well as the system of educational resources created within grants of Open Society Institute (Soros Foundation)
  • The project can be considered as a pre-phase of a global project of a Russian educational Web-portal.
