Numerous friends and visitors, journalists, representatives of civil authorities and public organizations came to St. Petersburg to celebrate 120 years of the founding of ORT.

Among official actions there was an unveiling of the Memorial plaque at Galernaya str., 3. The first headquarters of ORT was situated in this building.

Guests visited the School #550 and ORT-St.Petersburg Resource Centre, named after baron Horace de Gunzburg, one of the ORT founders. Students performed at the special concert, organized a school tour for guests guided by pupils. Director of ORT-St.Petersburg, Vladimir Dribinsky, presented the bilingual computer album "St. Petersburg Jewish Community. Three centuries of History". In honour of this celebration a direct descendant of baron de Gunzburg, Jean de Gunzburg, unveiled a memorial plaque in the Assembly Hall of the School.

In Grand Hotel Europe a number of official actions took place, such as a briefing with the Consul General of USA, Mr. John Smith, and a final of the international student design competition "My ORT".
