    Institute for Jewish Education at participation of Petersburg Jewish University, Center "ORT-Gunzburg, Saint-Petersburg" and The Association of Jewish Tradition Teachers "Lamed" has organized "The Summer School" for the teachers of Jewish Schools in FSU, which takes place from June, 24 till July, 15 1998 in St.-Petersburg at the International School of General Education and Israel Cultural Centre.

    The purpose of the Summer School is to enrich and to broaden the knowledge of its participants in different brunches of Judaic and to give to each of the them the possibilities for profound study of the teaching subject. One among the significant aims of the School is the mastering of the abilities of using Computer technologies and Internet in Jewish education. The raising skill course is planned for the teachers of humanities, who is working in the Jewish schools of general education. The duration of the course is 160h. (21 days).

    The School is carried out at participation of American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, The Melton Center for Jewish Education at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, The Center for Jewish Art at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the Stainzalts Institute and other organizations.

The following groups are organized:
• The Jewish History Teachers Group ,
• The Jewish Literature Teachers Group ,
• The Torah and Jewish Tradition Teachers Group,
• The Jewish Art Teachers Group ,
• The Primary School Teachers Group.

    During the School from July,7 1998 till July,9 1998 the VII International Conference on Jewish Education will take place. The Conference is organized by Petersburg Jewish University and Institute for Jewish Education. Its aim is the discussion of the results and the perspectives of the development of the Jewish education in FSU.
